I totally agree with Maria...this happens all too many times and we don&#39;t even know it. It saddens me...Precious really opened my heart to understanding what others are going through, you NEVER know! I got into a cab one morning and the guy seemed really low, so I asked him what was wrong. he told me the stories of how disrespected he was just because he drives a cab and is an immigrant. He told me all the horrible racist things he is called on an every day basis and how rude people were to him. Abuse is no joke, I think they need to educate and get help for both the abusers and the victims! Seems like no one knows how to deal with it, it&#39;s often misunderstood or tossed aside, even when we address it we still don&#39;t know how to touch the issue sometimes! Families fall apart like this. <br />Some things are very obvious but still, so much work has to be done!!! More exposure, more education!<br />I think the actress who played Precious said, the movie opens the doors for people to talk about these things.. that&#39;s a great start I think. <br />Everyone is expected to be so strong, so beautiful or so flawless all the time, we need to be open to discuss more emotional issues and things. Things that can make a person seem &quot;ugly&quot; or lonely and that they don&#39;t belong.<br />It&#39;s certainly not just a &quot;black&quot; thing either, although that was adressed in some ways throughout the film, with her not being light skinned or dreaming of a light skinned boyfriend.. This movie covers a couple of areas regarding weight issues and all kinds of abuse that makes a person feel not beautiful or good enough.
